I would like to welcome you all to yet another noteworthy effort by ACE Engineering Publications for Engineering Services aspirants to learn, understand and appreciate the subject Energy and Environment.
The role of energy has been assuming increasing significance in recent times with the growing concern for the country’s energy security. The book attempts to make analytical observations that are relevant covering various aspects and is immensely helpful for various UPSC, Engineering and State Level Examinations.
The year 2015 witnessed two landmark international events: the historic climate change agreement under UNFCCC in paris and the adoption of Sustainable Development Goals. On the domestic front, India continued to take ambitious targets in its actions against climate change. Understanding the concepts of environment, policies and programmers of the government relating to conservation, sustainable development etc. Play a vital role in preparing for the new pattern of the exam.
Practice Questions are hand-picked from various UPSC exams and are given at the end of every chapter which will test the understanding of the concepts.
The students are also advised to solve the previous ESE Questions so that they can understand the pattern of questions for better preparation for better preparation.
The concepts and questions are prepared keeping in view the model paper, prelims of ESE 2017 & ESE 2018 by the UPSC for revised pattern of ESE. Suggestions by the readers are invited for the improvement in our future editions.
With best wishes to all the students
The prelims examination consists of two objective papers. Paper – 1 is of general studies & Engineering aptitude for 200 marks and 2 hours duration. Paper – II of Electronics & telecommunications of 300 marks and 3 hours duration. In Mains examination , the technical syllabus is divided into two papers. Accordingly we have divided the objective questions into two volumes. The subjects in this volume – 1 are: 1 .Basic Electronics Engineering 2. Basic Electrical Engineering 3. Materials Science 4. Electronic Measurements and Instrumentation 5. Network Theory 6. Analog & Digital Circuits 7. Digital Electronic Circuits 8. Microprocessors Keeping in view of the above topics, the present volume – I for prelims for new pattern is re-designed using the previous questions from 1991 onwards. The style, quality and content of the solutions for previous ESE Questions of electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, will encourage the reader, especially the student whether above average, average or below average to learn the concept and answer the questions in the subject without any difficulty. However, It is the reader who should confirm this. Any comments and suggestions would be pleasantly received by the academy for further improvement of this booklet. It is observed that majority of ESE objective Questions are being asked as it is in many PSU’s state service commission, state electricity board and even in GATE exam. Hence We strongly recommend all the students who are competing for various competitive exams to use this book according to the syllabus of the exam concerned. This book can also be used by fresh teachers in Engineering Colleges to improve their concepts. We proudly say that questions and solutions right from 1991 onwards are provided in this booklet. The questions which appeared in early 90’s are most conceptual oriented and these are being repeated in the recent exams in a different way. Hence we advise the students to practice these compulsorily. The student is also advised to analyse why only a particular option is correct and why not the others. Evaluate yourself. The student is also advised to analyse why only a particular option is correct and why not the others. Evaluate yourself, in which case, these other options are correct. With this approach, you yourself can develop four questions out of the one question. The student is advised to solve the problems without referring to the solution. The student has to analyse the given questions carefully, identify the concept on which the question is framed, recall the relevant equations, Find out the possible answer and verify the answer with the final key such as (a), (b) (c) & (d) then go through the hints to clarify the answer. The student is advised to have a standard text book ready for reference to strengthen the related concepts, if necessary. The student is also advised not to write the solution steps in the space around the question, By doing so, the different loses an opportunity of effective advised not to write the solution steps in the space around the question.
